Call for Applications - Early Career Highlights

Call for Applications - Early Career Highlights

The ECH Track is designed to recognize and showcase outstanding early-career researchers who have recently begun independent research careers in academia or industry. Through invited talks, the track provides a platform for emerging researchers to present a broad overview of their research contributions and future directions.

Early Career Highlight (ECH) talk will be allotted 30 min each; the aim for these talks is to broadly survey the candidate’s research to date.

To qualify, applicants must have completed their PhD after December 2020, and taken up a faculty or post-doc position at a research-intensive university or a broadly equivalent position in industry (e.g., a position in a research lab that involves independent research and publication at AI venues), with a start date between July 1, 2023 and July 31, 2026.

We invite applications from qualified researchers. All documents must be in PDF format and use the CODS Author kit. Applications should consist of:

  • the candidate’s CV in your preferred format;
  • a link to the candidate’s Google Scholar profile or equivalent at the top of your CV,
  • and a one-page statement describing the work that would be surveyed by the talk in CODS format.

Applications may be submitted here and are due on or before August 31, 2026. The final selections are competitive and will be done based on the strength of the candidate’s track record, and the promise of the research plan. We expect the selection of the ECH talks by mid September.

In addition to the talk and panel discussion, Early career researchers at CODS 2026 have the opportunity to engage in several events including
  • 1. Mentoring students as a part of the YRS program
  • 2. Interactions with Industry representatives for potential collaboration opportunities
  • 3. AI for biology is a theme for CoDS this year with a dedicated track, so early career researchers in this area would have the opportunity to interact with the broader community
