Call For Papers - Early Career Highlights

Call For Papers - Early Career Highlights

This year, CODS is starting its invited young speaker program, highlighting data science researchers who have just begun careers as new faculty members, post docs or the equivalent in industry.

Early Career Highlight (ECH) talk will be allotted 20 minutes each; the aim for these talks is to broadly survey the candidate’s research to date.

To qualify, applicants must have completed their PhD after December 2020, and taken up a faculty or post-doc position at a research-intensive university or a broadly equivalent position in industry (e.g., a position in a research lab that involves independent research and publication at AI venues), with a start date between July 1, 2023 and July 31, 2025.

We invite applications from qualified researchers. All documents must be in PDF format and use the CODS Author kit. Applications should consist of:

  • the candidate’s CV in your preferred format;
  • a link to the candidate’s Google Scholar profile or equivalent at the top of your CV,
  • and a one-page statement describing the work that would be surveyed by the talk in CoDS format.

"Applications may be submitted here https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/CODS2025 and are due on or before August 17, 2025." The final selections are competitive and will be done based on the strength of the candidate’s track record, and the promise of the research plan. We expect the selection of the ECH talks by early September.

Once selected, the early career researchers will have the option to mentor young researchers in the conference both as an intern or a future research student. More details will be sent out after acceptance of the submission.
